Volkswagen overtakes Toyota

German car giant Volkswagen Porsche has overtaken Toyota to be the world's largest car manufacturer, latest estimates.

The European manufacturers produced 4.4 million vehicles in the first nine months 2009 compared to the Toyota's four million, according to analysts IHS global insight.
